The French Republic respects the sovereignty of every nation. Nevertheless, we recognize the importance of intervention when human lives are at stake. In addition, the delegation of France would like to emphasize the dangers of indifference toward failed states with the potential to spread unrest and violence to neighboring regions. The French Republic disapproves of the current condition in Somalia and is open to non-interventionist solutions for the Somali people.
The French Republic, as with the founding of this organization, is against any form of neo-imperialism or neo-colonialism. However, the French Republic recognizes the importance of peace and the importance of preventing ethnic or tribal conflicts in any form. The French Republic encourages international cooperation to support the peace process in the Republic of the Sudan, an issue that involves many member states of this organization.
The French Republic feels that too many of our sons and daughters have had to live through, or have died in, the conflict in Kashmir. The French Republic urges international cooperation on the issue and is against forms of violence and military posturing as remedies to this dispute.
