Israel Policy Statement

The Republic of Israel

Policy statement

Madame/Mr. President,

Delegates and Distinguished Guests,

The delegation of the Republic of Israel feels honored to be a part of this year’s meeting of the General Assembly United Nations. We understand the importance of the current issues that will be discussed during this meeting and the effect these decisions will have on the lives of people worldwide. Our goal for this session is to develop with constructive and beneficial ideas.

Kidnapping on the international scale has, in recent years, become ever more frequent and lucrative in terms of illegal activity. It would be beneficial for all countries if we worked together as a international community to oversee and enforce policies concerning international criminal acts of kidnappings for ransoms. Israel is especially interested in establishing a form of legislation concerning international kidnapping due to the unstable nature of their political and geographic position. Israel has been subject to the horrible terrorist act of kidnapping of our soldiers and civilians for ransom. Israel feels that immediate actions should take place in order to secure a safe return of any victims without companies or countries having to give into threats for ransom. We hope that all nation of the international community in the G.A will work in concert with our delegation to aid in the eradication of this criminal and terrorist on a international level. We hope that with the help of our fellow nations that we can return the world to a state of security.

On the issue of immigration and guest-worker problems in Europe, the Republic of Israel is very supportive of creation of a stronger immigration policy. As Israel also has problems with immigration, particularly those relating to the Palestinian and Muslim conflicts in Israel, and is supportive of policies that enforce nations’ laws regarding immigration, alongside those regarding citizenship and guest workers. Israel has had a history involving usage of guest workers and temporary citizenships, but with ever-returning border conflicts, Israel is supportive and sympathetic to countries who wish to enforce and protect laws strengthening control of immigration and immigrant rights.

On the issue of human trafficking and foreign workers’ rights, We feel that

That it is necessary to continue to the substantial efforts of the IDF. Israel’s law enforcement agencies are very successful in prosecuting violators of labor laws that are tantamount to trafficking. Trafficking in Israel is only illegal when the purpose of the trafficking is sexual exploitation. Law guarantees foreign laborers legal status, decent working conditions, health insurance, and a written employment contract and this will continue to help border police.

The Republic of Israel feels there needs to be reforms that can applied to all countries. We believe that this UN conference will take into account the specific situations of all countries and aggreably find possible universal solutions. We hope that the outcome of this UN will create new and efficient policies that will support the Republic of Israel and all other countries.
